DON QUIXOTE at the Quarry Amphitheatre
The ballet extravaganza, DON QUIXOTE, showcasing guest artists, Denis Veginiy from Semperoper Ballett in Dresden and Florence Leroux-Coleno from France (who appears courtesy West Australian Ballet), Sergey Pevnev (principal with West Australian Ballet) and Fiona Evans (ex-West Australian Ballet principal), is a ‘must-see’ for your summer entertainment calendar. It will be presented by Act-Belong-Commit at the magnificent Quarry Amphitheatre on 13,14,15 and 16 January.
Denis will dance the lead role of Basilio, Florence will dance the lead role of Kitri, Sergey will dance the role of the Toreador and Fiona will dance the role of The Street Dancer. Also performing will be dancers from the Spanish Company, Danza Viva, who will present authentic flamenco and gypsy dance for the Taverna and Gypsy scenes.
Audiences will be thrilled by the amazing technical ballet facility of the stars in the original Grand pas de Deux finale, the seductive tones of the castanets played live and the classical Dryads scene. This stunning and exhilarating comic ballet follows Don Quixote as he travels to tilt at windmills and becomes embroiled in village romance. This production by Perth City Ballet is based on the original Mariinsky production. (Photo above)
